About
As a teenager Jay fell in love with english bands like Depeche Mode, OMD, The Cure, New Order/Joy Division, The Smiths etc. As he tried valiantly to got those incredible sounds he got deep into synthesizers and drum machines before almost dying from a rare brain sickness, completely forgetting how to make music at all. When returning to full health he turned his back on his studies to take just “one year off” to do a music course. He started as a keyboard player and ended up becoming and in-demand bass player turning that “one year course” into seven years as a full-time musician playing venues up and down the country and playing in recording studios both near and far. Eventually deciding that he needed something formal for all his years performing he did a three year jazz degree in an unnecessarily hasty two years. Unfortunately, though he now had a qualification he didn’t enjoy the music that he now ended up playing. With the development of technology he was able to go back to his roots and make the music he’d always dreamed off as the independent electronic artist/remixer isunray.
