About

marigolden: bio A release campaign that practices what the music preaches, marigolden is releasing her debut EP without logging into social media. In a landscape that often demands constant online visibility, marigolden is choosing to prioritise balance by focusing on live performance and meaningful connection over relentless content schedules. Stepping back from the algorithm, her accounts will be handed to a friend who will post intermittent release updates on her behalf. It’s a philosophy that mirrors the record itself: steady, self-aware, and built to last. Raised in lutruwita/Tasmania and now based in Naarm/Melbourne, marigolden is an indie/folk/rock artist writing songs about self-trust, longevity and the quiet work of becoming. Having just released the first single from her forthcoming debut EP Long Game, out mid-2026, marigolden takes listeners on a roadtrip through restlessness, nostalgia and burnout, finally arriving at a quiet, joyful defiance. Her latest single, ‘Great Ocean Road,’ sets the tone: surfy and restless, with swirling lead lines and driving rhythm guitar underscoring questions about identity, friendship and who you are when the noise falls away. Co-produced by Natasha Newling and marigolden, with additional production by John Castle, the track captures the tension between questioning your inner beliefs and choosing to stand firmly in them. Drawing comparisons to the music of Angie McMahon, Lucy Dacus, Sharon van Etten, Middle Kids, marigolden also takes great influence from the confessional storytelling of Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, and Fleetwood Mac. marigolden has shared stages with artists including Bob Evans (Jebediah), Adam Newling and Hannah McKittrick and is a 2025 recipient of the Music Victoria “Uncovering Talent” grant. Radio has embraced marigolden with national support from triple j, double j, ABC Country and more, as well as international airplay and editorial playlisting. marigolden makes music for people who are learning to drop their masks and listen to their gut. If Long Game is her decision to trust that slow and steady is enough, then ‘Great Ocean Road’ (out 10 April 2026) is where that restless instinct first took root.
