About
Oceans Away formed in Munich in 2021 while founder Robbie Aaron was living in Europe. Upon his arrival in Germany, Aaron (an L.A.Native) went to work recruiting musicians who shared his love for Punk Rock and a desire to create music that empowers people to overcome issues related to abuse and other forms of trauma. To find his group, he went old school and posted flyers seeking musicians throughout the streets of Munich. Soon, he had guitarist and backing vocalist Chris Matthias, drummer Jindra Bláha and bassist Nico Rodriguez and Oceans Away was born. Their debut single 'Break the Cycle' hit stores on April 29th 2022 with outstanding reviews from various Music News blogs and Veteran Punk Rock bands such as Zebrahead, Social Distortion, and Unwritten Law. ‘Break the Cycle’ highlights the band’s unique sound which blends styles from hardcore with a layer of serene melody. The defiant and emotional anthem draws on Aaron’s personal struggles and brave decision to break the cycle of comfort in America and take the leap to move to Germany. Oceans Away is much more than a name, it’s a defining trait of the bands’ origins. This multinational group includes an American, German, Czech, and Ecuadorian who’s diverse backgrounds in music helped them to form their unique sound that continues to evolve. Now based permanently in Los Angeles, Oceans Away is a testimony to founder Robbie Aaron’s audacity to travel great lengths, in this case across an entire ocean, to achieve success. Oceans Away draws musical influence from various styles including Hardcore, Post-Hardcore, and Pop-Punk.
