About
Shira Ilan is a mature and creative musician, a mother and a family woman, a performing, creative and teaching musician, and she is also mentally dealing with a bipolar reaction to traumas from the past. In the years 2004-2006, she wrote emails that later will appear in her songs on the album 'The Black Songbook'. An album composed in 2015 and recorded between 2020-2023. The time differences indicate a long-term and deep project. Five of the songs on the album are letters between two friends, who have difficulty overcoming Complex trauma. The first part of the album has five songs and is called 'Dark', and the second part also has five songs and is called 'Bright'. The album cover is also photographed on one side in an abandoned and destroyed building, and on the other side in the same renovated and pleasant building, as a parallel to the recovery processes. The first part of the album, 'Dark', was released in all platforms in July 2023. The second part will be released in January 2024.
