About
Askingfriend is the solo project of reclusive introvert Kat Torrie, who has been making up songs for most of her life. Through decades of struggling to fit in and wrestling with rock-bottom self-esteem, music remained a lifeline, giving her the compulsion to reach out in kind to similar sensitive souls. Starting in 2018, Kat taught herself music production and began embracing her neurodivergent creativity. Self-produced debut EP, 'Heart in my Mouth' (November 2019) was praised by Facebook blogger Fierce & Fabulous Revolution as “striking…passionate…inventive,” with tracks receiving airplay internationally on independent radio. In 2020, Askingfriend was nominated in the Best Solo category at the PANIC Awards (celebrating live entertainment in Essex). Askingfriend's second EP 'Angry Reacts' will be available on all streaming platforms from 18th November 2022.
