About
In 2007, Coloma and the K was the new project of singer-songwriter Bernard Coloma. Having co-written his albums for several years with arranger Guillaume Corpard, Bernard Coloma, a dilettante, and deceptively bombastic singer, returned to his original inspirations: the rock of the Velvet Underground and Nick Cave, the Beatles, and American songwriters, with an album entitled "Un-Cube Songs," arranged by Ryan Kernoa and Matthieu Goyal. His band, The K, produces pop rock/folk with multiple instrumentations, played or sampled, polished, or tinkered with, a sort of heterogeneous vision embracing folk, electro, American film music, and 70s rock, all in a joyful jumble, both modest and ambitious! Coloma and the K returned in 2012, then in 2017 with two more rock-oriented albums arranged by Hugues Buisson and Matthieu Goyal: "Funny Feeling" and "In The City Of Dreams." Against a backdrop of Sixties-style bliss, Coloma and the K elevate music to a sacred mountain: like the Real Kids, Nick Cave, and the Velvet Underground, the band Coloma & the K possesses this rarefied gift of updating vintage sounds in an experimental field deliberately turned toward the future. Coloma and the K then remixed 12 songs from their directory for Nantes-based singer Jayleen McCarty, formerly of V'Nuss. The album "So Far from the Mirror," with its more folk and bluesy overtones, was released in the fall of 2018. And finally, in early 2020, "The Endless Summer Days," the latest album by Coloma and the K, was released. Following in the footsteps of "Un-Cube Songs," Bernard Coloma unveils a more complex, dreamlike, even cinematic style, where nostalgia for 70s rock blends with softer, more folk and electro intentions. Part of the K collective, Matthieu Goyal and Gatien Butstraen (The Cowboy Sixters, Am Lily Andorphin, etc.), dug out analog synths and drum machines and let the tapes roll until these 12 tracks came to life.
