Jon grew up in Long Island, New York and also the South Shore of Boston. It was passed down that several people in the family played musical instruments although this was long before the availability of home recording devices. In short, before cable TV and the Internet were the chief forms of entertainment for people, there was the radio and record player to listen to. Jon started on acoustic guitar at 12 years old and he vividly remembers his brothers’ constant plinking on unamplified electric guitars back in the day. His main influences in learning how to play the guitar were Jimi Hendrix and Robin Trower. Since the age of 14, Jon played in a neighborhood garage band. The band played gigs after a couple years of practice, but Jon eventually left the band to focus more on learning how to play lead guitar. Jon joined the US Air Force in 1984 and was stationed at RAF Bentwaters, Suffolk, England where he met his wife Tracey of 35 years. Upon returning to the US, he joined the US Coast Guard and started working on music again after a very long hiatus. Years later, he thought to take up song writing after reading that Syd Barrett had passed away. Barrett’s songs had provided the much-needed spark necessary to give song writing another try. Jon made his first record over ten years ago called ANIMAL SPIRITS produced at Rocking Horse Studio by Brian Coombes. Additionally, this record was reviewed and awarded album of the month by NEWEARS (New England Progressive Rock Society.) SLADE STREET, Jon’s second record, was released this year and was produced at Rocking Horse Studio by Brian Coombes and Josh Kimball. A third rock-n-roll record is in progress.
